
A New Milestone for Meiber!
Meiber recently passed the Mathematical Reasoning portion of the GED – a challenge that has made her nervous for months. Instead of letting fear hold her back, she faced it head-on, even encouraging a fellow classmate to schedule her own exam. The two ladies then went together and BOTH passed!
Cassandra is Preparing for College!
As both a student in our College Readiness & Support program AND a first-time mother to a six month old infant, Cassandra exemplifies what it means to be resilient, dedicated, and self-motivated. Recently, she enrolled in community college here in San Antonio, and begins next semester!
Mary’s Passion for Digital Lit
Make way for Mary K.! Mary came to us via our Wood Window Restoration apprenticeship program and has been taking Business Communications and Digital Literacy classes at The Neighborhood Place. She is excited to have overcome recent challenges and looking forward to rejoining the workforce and achieving her goal of independence.
For Katlyn, Redemption is Spelled G-E-D
The past several years have been especially challenging for Katlyn, but today she is more confident than ever in her ability to move forward–no longer allowing former troubles to define her. Currently, she is working towards qualifying for housing for her family, while taking courses to complete her GED.
Nazifa Levels Up Her English!
Since she first began attending Restore last October, Nazifa has shown incredible improvement from a young lady that could not speak (or understand) English, to an outgoing, self-confident student who guides others in similar positions through her same learned process.
Gregory’s Gains Towards Nursing
Get to know Gregory T. – our Student of the Month for Compass! Gregory graduated from San Antonio College in 2021 with an Associate of Applied Science degree, yet life challenges detoured him from further pursuing his education at the time. Eventually, Gregory made the decision to enroll in our College Readiness & Support program, in hopes of getting back on track to achieve his dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
Felisha Rekindles Her Love of Learning!
Public school was a negative experience for Felisha. Nevertheless, she remained determined, sought the support she needed, and ultimately found her way to Restore, where she began to regain her confidence and drive. Now she reminds herself “Yes, I can!” when working towards her future goals.
Virginia Continues to Improve Her English
Special shoutout to Virginia D. - our ESL Student of the Month! Virginia received her Paraprofessional certification through Restore Education, and is currently enrolled in our Spanish GED program. She routinely shows up early to class and puts great effort into her studies.
Maria’s Mission is a Career in Banking!
As a native of Mexico City, Maria finished her secondary education and attended post-secondary business school to become an administrative professional, prior to moving to the US in 2016. Now her plan is to study finance at San Antonio College, and one day pursue a career in the banking industry.
