On Saturday, May 17th, we proudly hosted the Teen Health Symposium in partnership with UT Health SA at our Eastside Campus, bringing together students, families, educators, and community partners for a full-day event focused on the theme “Navigating Challenges and Building Resilience.” The symposium was open to the public and aimed to create a safe, supportive environment where teens and their families could engage in open dialogue around mental health, wellness, and positive youth development.
The event featured a series of workshops, interactive sessions, and panel discussions addressing critical issues teens face today, including stress, anxiety, peer pressure, identity, healthy decision-making, and social media. Sessions also included practical tools for building resilience, enhancing communication skills, and promoting emotional well-being at home, in school, and within the broader community.
A highlight of the symposium was the collaboration with key community agencies and support organizations that provided onsite resources and information. These agencies, ranging from mental health providers to youth advocacy groups, offered guidance and services that families can continue to access beyond the event. Their presence underscored the importance of ongoing community-based support systems in helping young people thrive. By the end of the day, attendees left feeling empowered, informed, and connected.
We look forward to hosting more events that promote health, wellness, and resilience for our students and the community!
“The symposium successfully fostered awareness and encouraged continued conversations around teen health. We are incredibly thankful for the dedication of our staff, volunteers, guest speakers, and agency partners who made this event possible.”
